Travel tips
Massa-Carrara, a province in the Tuscany region of Italy, is best known for its extensive and all encompassing stretch of coastal area. It is also home to the breathtaking Apuan Alps, a popular excursion choice and getaway for naturalists, hikers and mountain climbers all year round.
Among the mountains are a host of white marble caves, an outstanding feature that is a perfect example of the gift of nature. As with much of Italy, the province has much art and history on display, too, and the Museo Civico del Marmo, where visitors can see the local marble works that have come from the mining done in the mountains, makes for a great trip. Lasagne intordellate and bean taglierini are two prime examples of dishes found in Massa-Carrara, with a spongata served up for dessert.
