The Sardinian town of Nuoro contains excellent museums such as the National Archaeological Museum and Grazia Deledda's Museum, as well as beautiful examples of Romanesque architecture such as the Church of San Simplicio.
The region around Nuoro features stretches of gorgeous coast including the beaches at Dorgali, impressive mountains such as Punta La Marmora and cave systems such as the Grotto of Bue Marino. Wintertime visitors can ski or snowboard at the Fonni Ski Resort.
