Travel tips
Fermo is a small town in central Italy that is of note to historians because of its excellently preserved Roman cisterns. Visitors can marvel at the Teatro dell'Aquila or the Roman Baths, or sit down to a meal of fossa cheese, Fabriano salame and mulled wine.
Hikers can walk through the scenic, rolling hill country outside Fermo on roads that were built long ago by Farfensi monks, or make the climb up Mount Sibilla, home of the Sybil of legends. The golden beaches of Porto Sant’Elpidio beckon travellers who want to make the short trip to the coast.
