San Bartolomeo al Mare in the province of Imperia is located in the Liguria region of northern Italy. Situated in the Italian Riviera, the town is a pretty seaside resort that comes alive during the summer months.
The main attraction in San Bartolomeo al Mare is Bassamarea beach and the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Rovere, the town’s most famous building, is also a sight worth seeing. The town is also a good base to visit nearby medieval villages, including Cervo.
Walking along the sandy coast and swimming in the sea are popular pastimes in San Bartolomeo al Mare. Diving is also possible, and a local diving school offers lessons and excursions. With numerous campsites in and around town, camping is also popular in the area.
San Bartolomeo al Mare is about 90 kilometres from the beautiful port city of Genoa, and the coastal city of Imperia is only 7 kilometres away. Monaco and the Cote d’Azur are just 55 kilometres to the east. There is a number of pretty neighbouring towns, including Andora, Diano Castello, Diano San Pietro and Diano Marina.
