With a shoreline of about 24 kilometres, Lago d’Idro is a mountain lake in the Brescia, Lombardy, and Trentino. Resembling a fjord, the scenic lake is embraced by high and rugged mountains. Fed by the river Chiese and surrounded by woodland, the narrow lake's villages have a diverse set of lodging options including lush camping with dazzling views.
The picturesque villages of Idro, Anfo, Bagolino and Bondone on the shores of Lago d’Idro were once the home of skilled wood and iron craftsmen. Today, they retain an old world charm and are popular tourist destinations. Anfo has an imposing fifteenth century fortress on the slopes of Monte Censo, while Bagolino boasts churches with Renaissance masterpieces.
There are excellent hiking and biking opportunities around Lago d’Idro, including narrow and steep trails to the summit of Monte Croce Di Perlè. The Dosso Sassello trail between Pieve Vecchia and Anfo has stunning panoramic views. The glacial lake also features perfect conditions for windsurfing and sailing.
Gaver is a half hour’s drive away. A ski resort during the winter, the town is a popular hiking destination between spring and autumn. Longer hiking trails from Lago d’Indo link Lago della Vacca, which is close to Rifugio Tita Secchi and the Bruffione lakes.
