Gatteo in the Emilia-Romagna region sits on the shores of the Adriatic Sea. The charming town is a popular family-friendly destination, especially during summer months.
Gatteo includes four main towns and villages, each with its own character. The main town of Gatteo is home to the thirteenth century castle and the Oratory of San Rocco, while the village of Sant’Angelo is the birthplace of composer Secondo Casadei. Gatteo a Mare is a popular resort town with a relaxing beach and Fiumicino is a charming village.
Beach volleyball, fishing and cycling are popular activities in Gatteo. Bird watching is possible at Oasi Marina Costiera, a nature park along the Rubicone River. The park is an excellent spot to see migratory birds.
Gatteo is just five kilometres from historic Cesenatico, which has a scenic canal and interesting Marine Museum. Further afield is Bologna, a lively city with stunning architecture wonders.
