Cesenatico is located on the shores of the Adriatic Sea in Emilia-Romagna. The town is home to idyllic beach and excellent water-based activities.
Founded in 1302, Cesenatico's port and canal were built in the early sixteenth century. The canal was surveyed by Leonardo da Vinci during the fortification of neighbouring Cesena. The Museo della Marineria boasts historic fishing boats moored in the canal.
Diving and sailing are popular in Cesenatico. The town's sailing schools offer novices an opportunity to learn how to sail. Cesenatico's nearby pine woodland have scenic trails for biking, hiking and horseback riding.
Ravenna is the home of the Basilica of Sant’ Apollinare Nuovo and its stunning mosaics. The Abbey of St. Maria del Monte and the Rocca Malatestiana, a fortress dating back to the fourteenth century, make a visit to the nearby town of Cesena worthwhile.
