Camping & Bungalows Riva dei Butteri: In Southern Tuscany along the Maremma coast, in the Province of Grosseto, as part of the municipality of Scarlino, right on the border of Follonica and only 100 m from the beach and the sea away, is situated the campsite Riva dei Butteri. Besides the pitches for campers, caravans and tents, the campsite has confortables bungalows, camper-service, bar, restaurant and mini-market. Dogs are always welcome to our campsite!

The Campsite Riva dei Butteri takes its name from the closeness to the sea, whose shore (it. riva) is characterized by a wide and long sand beach and by the riding herdsman, the so called Butteri, whose job was to "shield" the cattle, in other words to look after, to follow, to guard and to accompany entire herds of the Maremman cattle and horses that were living in a wild state, to brand them in order to prevent theft. It is narrated that in 1890 the butteros of the Duke Castani di Sermoneta challenged with complete satisfaction of victory the most known and expert herdsman of Buffalo Bill's crew, on tour in Rome. Embedded in a park of acacia trees, the campsite Riva dei Butteri is extending over a flat carpet of green grass, which simply makes him unique in the area.
The long and beautiful white sand beach is only 100 m away and can be reached, walking through a thriving, adjoining pine forest that characterizes the whole coast. On the beach it is possible to go to the public beach or to make use of the bathing establishments (blu flag from 2002 until 2011). The structure, besides the plane pitches that are ideal for any type of equipment, is supplied with electricity of a maximum of 3 ampere. It is also equipped with confortable bungalows in insulated wood that can accommodate up to five people. The life within the campsite is well organized and offers besides the usual basic services (bar, market, restaurant, pizzeria) also additional services that will make this type of holiday always more comfortable. These services are for example: only breakfast, half board or full board; mountain bike rental (men/women/children), organization of cultural evenings during the months of July and August, mini club, free library service with more than 250 national and international books at the guest's disposal (from the year 2004 on, the campsite has been a separated section of the Communcal Library in Follonica), two barbecue spots to make barbecues with own equipment, direct delivery of liquid gas upon request, Pets always allowed. The parking area (excluded for those cars feed with LPG) is within the campsite and is marked off in a special area that is separated from the pitches.

Our Bungalows, besides giving you the possibility to choose between smokers and non smokers bungalows, are integrated in the green and bounded on to the other by a laurel hedge and have a small, private courtyard. The bungalows are all composed of a veranda furnished with table and chairs, a bright living room, harmoniously furnished and divided from the kitchen through a bar, a kitchen fitted out with sink with two basins, cold and warm water mixer, stove with two plates, worktop, refrigerator of 140 l, kitchenware, cutlery, glasses and more, one bathroom with WC, shower and sink, both with cold and warm water mixer and another toilet. The sleeping area is composed of two bedrooms that can accommodate up to five people, according to type 1, 2 and 3 that can be seen on the maps on the bottom of this page. At last, all our bungalows are provided with: TV, air-condition (warm/cold), inside telephone exchange to communicate directly with all the campsite services (bar, market, restaurant and pizzeria, administration, consièrge, house keeping, maintenance, surgery etc...), automatic programmable alarm clock, reserved parking lot inside, set of bed linen - sheet and pillowcase-, a blanket and a pillow for every occupied bed (it is provided a free weekly linen change for stays that are longer than 14 nights).
Only upon specific request it is possible to get the following optional services: rental and change of the individual towel sets (1 bath towel, 1 towel, 1 guest towel), midweek cleaning of the bungalow, midweek change of the bed linen set; home delivery service bar, market, restaurant and pizzeria such as: bungalow breakfast, shopping of the grocery's and other, takeaway food of the menu etc...;
Pets not allowed from 07th to 20th of August, but always allowed in the other periods.
