Campeggio La Finoria

Camping La Finoria in Gavorrano

Reopening
Camping La Finoria is scheduled to reopen in May 2026, promising a unique and regenerating experience in the heart of Maremma.

The campsite will offer a variety of accommodations to meet the different needs of guests, including bungalows, pitches, furnished tents and latest-generation mobile homes. There will be an environmental laboratory for training activities, a bar and restaurant open to the public, toilets, a reception, children's games and social spaces, all designed to integrate with the surrounding natural beauty.

Immersed in the Finoria Park, the campsite is surrounded by rich flora and fauna, with the possibility of spotting birds of prey such as the short-toed eagle and the buzzard. Guests will enjoy breathtaking views of the sea and the surrounding hills, with paths winding through cypress trees, vineyards and olive groves.

Sports and Recreational Activities
The new management plans to strongly promote sports activities, with particular attention to mountain biking and cycling, both within the facility and in the Finoria Park. Trails for sports activities will be implemented and there will be collaboration with other accommodation facilities in the area.

Leisure opportunities will include horse riding, tennis, bird watching, trekking, running, orienteering, excursions and visits to the charming medieval villages nearby.

Investments and Economic Development
The investment for the renovation of the campsite is estimated at around 6 million euros, with the forecast of creating between 20 and 50 jobs. Geological interventions will be necessary to guarantee the safety of the territory and the adaptation of fire safety protocols, in collaboration with the water service manager and the municipal administration of Gavorrano.

Gavorrano: A Historic Village
Gavorrano is a charming medieval center located in the Maremma, at an altitude of 273 meters, surrounded by woods and vineyards. This village offers a panoramic view of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the surrounding hills.

Historically, Gavorrano was an important mining center, with its pyrite mine operating until the 1980s. Today, many of the mining facilities have been redeveloped for tourism purposes in the Gavorrano Mining and Naturalistic Park.

History and Culture
The first official document mentioning Gavorrano dates back to 1164, when the castle was ceded by Frederick I to the Alberti Counts of Mangona. The history of the village is marked by tragic events, such as that of Pia de’ Tolomei, remembered every year with the re-enactment of the “Salto della Contessa”.

Medieval Architecture
The village still preserves medieval architectural elements, including the castle, the walls and the church of San Giuliano, which houses a marble statuette from the fourteenth century. In the center there is also the Davide Manni Documentation Center, dedicated to Etruscan finds from the Etruscan settlement of Santa Teresa.
