Travel tips
Cap Corse is Corsica’s northernmost peninsula and is known as the ‘island in an island’ due to its peculiar formation: the ‘Sentier des Douaniers’ (custom officers’ trail) which takes walkers to the very tip, the string of small villages along the coast and hinterland, the 19 ports, the 7 windmills, the churches and the buildings make this stretch of earth quite unique.
The Corsica Regional Park is also home to the Scandola Natural Reserve, the first natural reserve in Europe to include land and sea. This landscape, now protected by UNESCO, is defined by its many grottos, tiny islands and bays.
The Calanques de Piana, on the western coast, are a very unique geological formation of red granite rocks. These are also protected by UNESCO.
Some of the most beautiful beaches in the north include Saleccia Beach, which is located within the protected Desert des Agriates area and can be reached by sea or a trail through nature. Another is Ostriconi Beach, with its fine sands, tucked away in a bay and protected by Peraiola Cove.
