Camping de la Casse
The campsite is located in the picturesque village of Prapic, at an altitude of 1550 meters, near Orcières, within the stunning Parc national des Écrins. The area is rich in natural beauty, with diverse wildlife such as chamois, marmots, roe deer, and squirrels, offering visitors a tranquil and immersive alpine experience. The campsite provides spacious, shaded pitches that blend perfectly with the surrounding environment, ensuring a peaceful stay. Additionally, guests can stay in the Gîte, a traditional village apartment for six people. The Gîte features a spacious living room with a kitchenette, a bathroom with a shower and WC, two bedrooms (one with a double bed and the other with two bunk beds), and a comfortable sofa bed in the living area. It also includes a large outdoor terrace with a pizza oven, offering a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. The campsite also boasts a Musée de la Casse, showcasing traditional regional crafts, including exhibits related to the blacksmith, cobbler, shepherd, and teacher. There is also a boutique and souvenir shop offering local products such as génépi (used for making homemade liqueurs), génépi in pots for replanting, fleurs de chardon bleu, and the renowned liqueur de génépi “Guillaumette”, made using a cherished family recipe. The campsite serves as an ideal base for outdoor activities, including hiking to nearby landmarks such as the cascata del saut du laire and lac des Pisses, as well as cultural visits to the tombeau of poet Joseph Reymond, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers and those seeking to explore the area's heritage.
